Review Guidelines
Rate My CFI exists to help pilots make informed training decisions. Honest, first-hand reviews make that possible — and a few ground rules keep them fair for everyone, including the instructors, examiners, and schools being reviewed.
Do
- Write about your own first-hand experience as a student or client.
- Be specific: what happened, when, and how it affected your training.
- Keep it balanced — mention what went well alongside what didn't.
- Stick to facts you can stand behind. Opinion is fine ("I felt rushed"); false statements of fact are not.
- Update or remove your review if the situation changes.
Don't
- Post second-hand stories, rumors, or reviews on behalf of someone else.
- Include personal attacks, profanity, or comments about appearance, race, religion, gender, or other protected characteristics.
- Share private information: phone numbers, home addresses, medical details, or certificate numbers.
- Post fake reviews — of yourself, competitors, or anyone else. This includes review swaps and paid reviews.
- Use reviews to settle unrelated personal disputes or extort a refund.
Moderation
Reviews are automatically screened before posting and may be reviewed by our team. Anyone can flag a review they believe violates these guidelines using the report button on the review. Instructors, examiners, and schools may respond publicly to reviews of their profile after claiming it. Reviews that violate these guidelines will be removed; repeat violations may result in account suspension.
Disputes
If you are the subject of a review you believe is false or violates these guidelines, claim your profile and use the report button, or contact us. We review every report but do not remove reviews simply because they are negative.
